Editing continued

We have continued editing our music video. We have encountered some issues regarding the footage we currently have and will need to refilm as well as film the rest of it which has not been filmed as yet. Overall, some of the scenes we have we are pleased with and have proceeded to add them in the right places. 

Filming Day 1

Today was our main filming day in which our initial plan was to get all our filming done today and we did do everything to schedule so that this could happen. However, the battery of the DSLR died before we could get to our final location, Brick Lane and we did not have a charger or a backup battery as we probably should have made sure we did have. However, we did manage to get most of the filming done which means that we can start editing.

We started off at the house filming in the actors room and also in the stairs. After leaving the house location we went over our footage and realised that the scenes we filmed with the actor on the stairs was too dark therefore we will have to rethink that particular scene as we may not be able to go back to the house to film due to timing.

Most of our filming for today took place in Valentines Park. Although we tried to stick to the storyboard as best we could, however whilst actually filming we realised that some of the shots we had did not make sense with the scene and the lyrics of the song etc. Therefore we started filming scenes that we thought would look good and we switched up some scenes that were in our original storyboard.

This is an email I sent to the record label managing the artist whose music I am intending to use for my music video. I have since sent a second email requestion permission again and have not received a reply for either. As such, I will be going ahead with using the track and hope it will not cause any issues.

Call Sheet for Sunday 11th October

This is our call sheet for Sunday 11th October - we originally planned to film on 2 sundays but we have now decided that we will try and film everything in one entire day.

LOCATION RECCE'S

Today, I along with Toyosi went to check out locations and take pictures to ensure everything was suitable for our video filming.

Valentines Park

One of our main locations will be valentines park which we will be usin due to the large space and quiet surroundings. We wanted somewhere that had a lake type pond and a bridge which valentines park has. We also discovered many other things at valentines such as a maze type area and pillars which we think we could use should we need any extra footage. Overall, due to the large location and various facilities at Valentine's it will be our main location: 

We think this could be wear the main lake scenes in our storyboard could be filmed also because there are not many geese here which is an issue we encountered for other ponds at the park.

We thought that the tree here would be a good one for when our actor is sitting at a tree or standing at one as shown in the storyboards.

We found a couple doors leading to maze type locations and for this door we thought we could film our main actor either walking out of the door whilst lip syncing or walk in as well. 

Brick Lane

The last couple scenes and a scene inbetween as show in the storyboard will be filmed in Brick Lane. We chose this location because of the urban, run-down vibe and we think it is a good location for showing the struggle in the singers life.

Video Preparation update - Team Meeting

Our original 4 locations were Finsbury Park, Hollow Ponds, Brick Lane and a house. After having visited Valentines Park today, we have come to a decision that instead of using Finsbury Park and Hollow Ponds, Valentines Park will be our main location. This is because it is a large park with more than enough suitable places for us to film, including a bridge and a large lake-like pond which was what we were originally looking for. We also visited Brick Lane, which had a very urban feel to it including rough looking walls and areas with lots of graffiti which is what we were looking for when it came to certain scenes.

A recce of both locations of Valentines Park and Brick Lane, along with the suitable call sheets and risk assessments will be posted soon.

Video prep

UPDATE TUESDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2015: We have changed the dates of our filming and have decided to attempt filming all of our footage on the nearest sunday which is Sunday 11th October
